A private investigator who, after being convinced by J. Jonah Jameson to undergo experiments, gains powers similar to those of a scorpion. Using these powers, including super strength and agility, along with an exoskeleton-like armor resembling a scorpion, he becomes a formidable enemy for Spider-Man and even J.J. Jameson himself. He is one of the few villains who managed to defeat Spider-Man more than once in the early issues.
