Known as the Devourer of Worlds, he is an ancient being existing before the Big Bang in the form of an alien named Galan. Surviving the Big Bang, he becomes a cosmic entity upon which the fate of the entire universe depends, consuming planets to satisfy his infinite hunger. He has many servants called heralds, to whom he bestows immense powers, and they serve as explorers in the constant search for planets for Galactus to devour.
